Beth's Universal Orlando Strategy
Day 1: Islands of Adventure (rope drop). Start VelociCoaster or Hagrid's (whichever is shorter wait), then Harry Potter. Afternoon: Skull Island, Hulk. Evening: Diagon Alley photos, Butterbeer queue winds down after 7pm.
Day 2: Universal Studios Florida. Rope drop Mummy or Transformers, then Gringotts queue (use Express Pass). Afternoon: WWOHP, MIB for flexibility, E.T. (shortest lines 4-6pm). Epic Universe third day if 3+ parks.
Universal Express Pass: Worth it March–April, July, October–December. Skip slower months (May–June). Book now closes 45 days in advance.
Best Times to Visit
Lowest Crowds: Early September, late January–early February
Moderate: Mid-May (post-spring break, pre-summer), mid-August (post-summer break)
Avoid: Spring break (mid-March–April), July 4th week, Christmas–New Year
Park-Hopper Strategy
Same-day crossing: 30 min boat + bus + Hogwarts Express (Islands to Studios).
3-5 days best: One full day per park, plus hopping. 2-day limit = impossible to see both fully.
Express Pass: Game-changer in peak season. Budget $150–350/person/day depending on season.
Getting Around
Hotel guests: Free resort buses, water taxi to Diagon Alley, Hogwarts Express between parks.
Day visitors: Parking 2026 — General $30, Preferred $55, Prime ~$80, off-site Park-and-Ride ~$15. Self-parking is FREE for on-site hotel guests. Taxi/Uber cheaper than parking for solo travelers.
International: No public transit directly to parks. Car/Uber essential, Orlando airport 30 min away.
